Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolay Patrushev visited St. Petersburg Mining University. The main topic discussed during his meeting with the rector Vladimir Litvinenko was the training of qualified engineering staff for the national economy.

During his acquaintance with Russia's first technical university Nikolai Patrushev visited the Mining Museum, the Macarius of Egypt Church, the Schneider Electric educational and research center which conducts research aimed at increasing energy efficiency, training and simulator complexes for operating Caterpillar mining and transportation equipment as well as oil and gas production on the Novatek shelf and a number of other laboratories and classrooms.

The delegation, headed by the Secretary of the Council of the Russian Federation, also included Nikolai Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education, Alexander Gutsan, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Northwest Federal District, and Andrei Maksimov, head of the Science and Higher Education Committee of St. Petersburg Administration.
