This stone is without a doubt one of the most useful minerals on our planet. It has been over a few centuries since people started applying it for treatment of severe illnesses and human health protection in general. Health resorts of Karlovy Vary or Baden-Baden would have never been built if this stone had never existed in the first place.

Aragonite is a favourite tool of herbalists and healers. There is a legend that this stone is actually the tears of a Spanish girl who got separated from her beloved one. The breakup with fiancé was so painful to her that the tears upon falling onto the ground turned into the stone spikes. Ever since that day, people had begun to believe that the mineral was the keeper of the family hearth.

The wizards of the Middle Ages thought that hexagonal aragonite due to its shape resembled a magical symbol - the Seal of Solomon. As per legends, the seal had a form of the signet ring that gave Solomon the power to command genies and speak with animals. Ancient stonecutters also endowed this stone with magical properties. When heated, its samples were transforming into a fine dust - the mineral was actually changing its form and evolving into calcite right before the eyes of miners. From that moment on, people started calling aragonite an ’ever young stone’.

Aragonite has antimicrobial and wound-healing properties. Besides, it is also rich in calcium, a mineral element necessary for normal life of the organism. Healing springs of Czech and German resorts are saturated with the mineral and can actually help people overcome both minor indispositions - constipations or indigestions - as well as more serious medical conditions - pancreatic diabetes and gout. The healing water of those springs is meant to permeate aragonite masses and become saturated with ions of this element in order to become actually valuable and healthful.

Lithotherapists believe the stone possesses powerful energetics. Feng shui claims that aragonite products is a must have for everyone - aragonite figurines should be placed within the house to attract happiness and wealth into the family. They should be at the same time located in a prominent position, near the window.

Aragonite is considered a rare stone. The most valued samples in jewellery are the ones that have a shape of bizarre inflorescences. These specimens are also called ”the Iron Flower". Not less valuable is blue aragonite that is found in China only. According to ancient legends, blue-coloured stones can help people restore their self-confidence. To make it work, those samples have to be housed in, for example, earrings.

Though it might be hard to believe it, but sharp aragonite is very close to pearls. The mineral is an integral part of clamshells. In the Czech Republic, locals have even created a sort of amusement for tourists: paper roses or small dishes are placed in the water; eventually, those objects acquire the pearly lustre.
