Students, postgraduate students, and recent graduates of technical universities, who are now working in mining and oil & gas companies, for a week told the experts about their scientific research, participated in production tours, and listened to act lectures on current trends in higher education, oil & gas and mining industries.

Its grand opening will be timed to coincide with the Machine-Builder’s Day.

Welcoming telegrams to the “future Lomonosovs and Mendeleyevs” were sent by the Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, and Presidential Aide Andrei Fursenko.

On Wednesday, 17 March, Mining Museum, St. Petersburg, informed it had concluded experiments on removing toxic impurities from wastewater. The experiments were carried out using mineral samples from the museum’s vaults, reports the press office of the city’s largest natural-scientific exposition.  The peculiarity of the solution lies in the filtering material capable of trapping even the most toxic components. Iron-manganese nodules were used as a barrier for wastewater treatment.
