After visiting the Mining University, the Ambassador of Australia to the Russian Federation stated the need to expand academic cooperation between both countries.

This September marks the 78th anniversary from the day the siege of Leningrad started (Leningrad is a former name of Saint-Petersburg, commonly used throughout the Soviet period or, more precisely, from 1924 till 1991). For the second time as well, they have chosen the two week-long international summer school programme ”Modern Technologies of Drilling Wells, Transport and Storage of Oil & Gas.”

Students from Hanoi University in Vietnam and Taiyuan University of Technology (TUT) in China came to the Mining University to participate in the International Summer School programme, named ”Underground Coal Mining”.

Students of the Lebanese International University came to Saint-Petersburg to participate in the summer school program of the Mining University, called ”Geodetic Engineering: Theory and Practice”. On the completion of the education, they shared their impressions and explained why they decided to be trained here for a second year in a row.

Students of the faculty of political science at the University of Bologna went through training at the International Summer School in the Mining University. Italian students came to St. Petersburg to gain new knowledge and participate in the summer school program named ”Social-political Conflicts of Modern Society”.

More than half of the students of technical universities would not want to work inside the Arctic circle regardless of the circumstances. Meanwhile, the local population is rapidly declining. Can something be done about it?
