Students, postgraduate students, and staff of St. Petersburg Mining University celebrated the 78th anniversary of the total liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade by laying flowers at the monument to the fallen in the courtyard of the first academic building.

Despite the vacations, dozens of people came to the ceremony organized by the Council of Students. This holiday in St. Petersburg-Leningrad is very personal, which sets the tone for all the speeches.

The resident of the sieged city, Professor Yury Savelyev (he was 4 in 1941) told about his father who headed the Air Defense of Vasilyevsky Island and remembered Tanya Savicheva who was his neighbor - lived in the next street.

First Vice-rector of the University Natalia Pashkevich and the Chairman of the Board of Veterans Andrey Batalov talked about the importance of passing this memory from generation to generation.

The Council of Mining University students and the university administration congratulate everyone on Leningrad Victory Day!
