The UBRSP-100 unit for the development and servicing of oil and gas wells was manufactured by Hydropromservice Research and Production Association LLC by order of Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University. It will become part of the equipment complex for the superdeep research well in the Komi Republic.
The supplier carried out supervised installation of the unit at the university’s Training and Research Facility “Sablino.” Before being relocated to the North, it will be used there in the educational process to reinforce students’ theoretical knowledge through practical training.
It should be recalled that Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University is the developer of the scientific and technical program for the deep study of the genesis of typical structures of the Earth. For this purpose, the National Research Center for Deep Metageology is being established at the university. Field research will be conducted at three sites — Vostochno-Vorgamusyursky, Adaksky, and Povarnitsky — in the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province. The relevant licenses have already been issued by the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use.
Hydropromservice Research and Production Association LLC manufactured the 100-ton-capacity unit at its main production site in Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk Region (its second site is located in Nizhnevartovsk). Only domestically produced components were used. The unit is employed in well completion operations after drilling, as well as for well servicing and reconstruction through deepening and sidetracking. According to operator feedback, the UBRSP-100 is well adapted for operation on difficult ground conditions and is equipped with high-quality assemblies and devices that allow transition to different drilling methods.
Andrey Gashin, Director of the company, explains:
«The enterprise has specialized in the manufacture of hoisting units for oil and gas wells since 2017. More than 300 units with lifting capacities ranging from 40 to 140 tons have been produced. For us, this is familiar work, but every technical specification has its own particular features. The order for the Mining University was refined by our designers together with the university’s scientists, taking into account operation in the conditions of the Far North: we improved the frost resistance of the pneumatic system, added a cold-start device, and installed a heated battery.
The key components, such as the chassis and the hoisting mechanism, including the gearboxes, are manufactured by the enterprise itself. Two years ago, we opened a foundry and are successfully developing it. In particular, we are mastering the casting of axle housings for chassis».
At a meeting between representatives of Hydropromservice Research and Production Association LLC and the Rector of Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University, an agreement was reached on academic partnership. This is a new format of interaction with employers that the university is implementing within the framework of the presidential pilot project for improving the higher education system. It provides for closer involvement of companies in the educational process. Together with the university, company representatives assess the level of practical skills acquired by students, participate in the work of the qualification commission that determines residual knowledge, and attend diploma project defenses.
Andrey Gashin told Forpost that the company regularly organizes student internships at its production facilities for students of universities in the Chelyabinsk Region. It will also be pleased to host students from Saint Petersburg as trainees, including engineer-trainees, and possibly as future employees.
