Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on issuing Russian Federation Government Awards to young researchers in the fields of science and engineering. The awards will be handed out to 29 persons, among them are representatives from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Saransk, Tomsk, Khabarovsk and Nizhny Novgorod region.

The Mining University’s representatives received their awards for basic and applied research in the field of extracting strategic metals and diamonds as well as due to their work on developing and implementing raw hydrocarbons deep conversion technology.

According to Tatiana Alexandrova, Head of the Department of Mineral Processing and Academic Advisor of the Writing Team, "The Government Award in Engineering Science is very prestigious. For example, this year only six teams from all over the country will receive it. I am so happy for these young people who had been working all this time under my supervision. It will be such a huge incentive for them to grow professionally".

Artem Romashev, Senior Lecturer at the Mining University noted that research is mostly aimed at improving profitability of low-grade ore beneficiation process, i.e. ores with a low estimated grade of an orebody. By applying results of scientific research to manufacturing processes, gold, platinum, rhenium and other metals may be extracted in a more efficient way.

Cash grant of 500,000 roubles will be given to Tatiana Alexandrova, Head of the Department of Mineral Processing, Senior Lecturers Nadezhda Nikolaeva and Artem Romashev and post-graduate student Dmitry Semenikhin. All of them were awarded with a Government Award.
