On Monday, June 28, Yuri Gagarin State Technical University of Saratov (SSTU) reported that its researchers had developed three new software applications. The programs can help analyse morphological characteristics, microhardness, and porosity of surfaces after laser structuring. Rospatent has already registered the software.

Experimental tests took place within the university labs, SSTU's Press Office informs. The scientists used the domestically produced LRS-50A laser welder by OKB Bulat.

Nowadays, laser technology is in use in welding, cutting, cladding, engraving, cleaning. Other areas of application include micromachining of metals and additive manufacturing. Using a laser helps improve the quality of products and reduce operating expenses.

Let us recall that MISiS' research team has developed a technology for producing multigraphene films using low-temperature synthesis. They can act as an additive to silumin (alloy of aluminium and silicon) powders to create qualitatively new composites for 3D printing.
