Vladimir Putin congratulates Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University on the 250th anniversary of its foundation

The President of Russia has wished the faculty, staff, students, postgraduates and graduates of Russia's first technical university success and all the best.

On Tuesday, October 31, Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to the Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University, which will celebrate its 250th anniversary tomorrow.

"The rich history of your native university, its remarkable traditions passed on from generation to generation are a subject of special pride for the faculty, students, postgraduates and graduates of the university," the President emphasized.

He emphasized that "over the past years, this institution of higher education has produced a brilliant cohort of renowned scientists, researchers and specialists who have made a huge contribution to the development of the mining and metallurgical, oil and gas, energy complexes and other strategic sectors of the national economy".

"I am convinced that thanks to its powerful scientific potential, modern educational technologies and methods, St. Petersburg Mining University will continue to strengthen its advanced, flagship positions," said Vladimir Putin.

In conclusion, he congratulated all those involved in the university - its staff, faculty, students, postgraduates and graduates - on the anniversary and wished them success and all the best.
