The internship season at industrial enterprises has ended at the St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II. This year, many Belarusian companies, among others, have opened their doors to students of the oldest technical university in Russia. In particular, BELAZ, Minsk Tractor Plant and Belaruskali, one of the largest suppliers of mineral fertilizers.

More than 150 first-year students arrived in Soligorsk, who had the opportunity to go down to the operating mine where potash salt is extracted, get acquainted with the process of its enrichment, as well as learn more about the history of the neighboring state and the cultural characteristics of its inhabitants. None of these guys had ever been to mining before, that is, this trip, without any exaggeration, opened their eyes to a new world in which many of them will soon begin to build their careers.

«We study to be energy-engineers, study modern principles and technologies of power supply to enterprises in various sectors of the economy. It was very useful to see one of them with my own eyes. Regardless of where each of us will work later, this experience will definitely be useful to everyone. After all, a true professional should be developed in a versatile way. As for the specialty we are directly mastering, I personally gained a lot of new knowledge during communication with the chief energy-engineer, he helped to understand the intricacies of energy supply to such a large enterprise,» - Alexandra Pavlova shared her impressions.

The policy of openness is typical for almost all Belarusian companies and organizations, whose management does not hide its interest in the influx of young, talented engineers, not only from Belarus, but also from Russia. As the students noted upon their return to St. Petersburg, they were "shown and commented on in detail each stage of production, answered all their questions and dwelled in detail on the social package." That is, the internship format assumed familiarity not only with the Belaruskali technological chain, but also with a potential employer, which is no less important.

«The most important thing that I have learned from our practice is that the competence of any specialist should not be limited only to the niche in which he works. It is necessary to perceive the enterprise as a single organism consisting of interconnected structural units united by a common goal. And consider your immediate responsibilities through the prism of its achievement. Only in this case will you be able to establish yourself as a professional mining engineer», - Irina Baykova emphasized.

Recall that this summer, all first-year students of the Empress Catherine II St. Petersburg Mining University completed three-week introductory internships at various enterprises. For example, students of the Department of Materials Science and Technology of Artistic Products interned in Yekaterinburg, on the basis of the Antonov Stone-Cutting House, where they made the first works of ornamental stone in their lives.
