A regional representative office of the International Competence Center in Mining Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO was established on the basis of SIBUR. The agreement was signed by the rector of the St. Petersburg Mining University Vladimir Litvinenko and the chairman of the board of SIBUR Holding Dmitry Konov.
Ammonium nitrate explosion, which took place at the port of the city of Beirut on 4 August 2020, caused significant damage to the surrounding areas and resulted in over 200 deaths. The International Competence Centre for Mining-Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO was established on the premises of Saint Petersburg Mining University two years ago. Today, its role, like that of other Institutes and Centres under the auspices of UNESCO, lies in supporting the change of the global landscape, particularly through ensuring equal access to scientific achievements across the globe.
