The International Competence Center in Mining Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO is holding a large-scale youth forum.

On Monday, December 14, the opening ceremony of the final scientific session “Young Leaders of Science 2020” will take place. This conference will bring together on an online platform Zoom winners of various competitions that were held this year by the UNESCO Center. They will make presentations of their most promising and noteworthy projects.

Altogether, about 8 thousand young scientists took part in the Center's events, organized on the basis of St. Petersburg Mining University. 146 of them became laureates and 16 received the highest marks from expert committees. These are exactly the ones who will make presentations in three parallel sessions.

“The world has entered an era of rapid change, rapid technological development, high competition and close attention to environmental protection. Sensitivity to change, active thinking and desire for progress are the factors that determine efficiency and success. All these qualities are inherent to young researchers: it is their energy and initiative that are especially important for the future of the mineral industry. One of the main goals of our session is to form a community of competitive specialists, successful young scientists, leaders in their subject areas,” said Vladimir Borzenkov, Director General of the UNESCO Center.

In addition to presentations of young scientists, the event will include a lecture by Sergey Serdyukov, Technical Director of Nord Stream AG: “Management as the main issue of the 21st century” (December 15, 10.00), as well as several master classes held by invited experts representing SIBUR, GEOTEK Seismorazvedka and Schneider Electric. Sirodj Loikov, member of the PhosAgro Board of Directors, Rustam Galiakhmetov, Managing Director of SIBUR Holding, and Vladimir Tolkachev, President of GEOTEK Seismorazvedka will attend the opening ceremony.
