At the end of October, the oldest technical university in Russia will host the international forum ”Mineral Resources as the Basis of National Sovereignty – Workforce and Innovation Environment.” It will serve as a natural continuation of the agenda of the Russia-Africa summits held in 2019 and 2023, and a key milestone event in the work of the university consortium ”Africa’s Subsoil,” created at the initiative of Empress Catherine II St. Petersburg Mining University and the Competence Center for Mining Education under the auspices of UNESCO.

The summer school season at the Empress Catherine II St. Petersburg Mining University has come to an end. The last group of students to attend were from the Chinese University of Mining and Technology in Xuzhou. Over the course of two weeks, they attended lectures, participated in workshops, practiced on simulators, and explored the northern capital and its industries as part of field trips.

The opening ceremony of the summer school, the program of which was created specifically for guests from Xuzhou, was attended by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in the city on the Neva, Mr. Luo Zhanhui.

The first participants were students and postgraduates from Iran. Together with them, a representative delegation of teachers from Shiraz University, as well as Organizations of Mining Engineers from Fars province, arrived at the oldest technical university in Russia.
