The results of the joint research by scientists of Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University, Saint Petersburg, Russia and Department of Petroleum Engineering, Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran have been published in International Journal of Engineering. It is published by the Materials and Energy Research Center (Iran).

The research results have been published in the Journal of Mining Institute (Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University). On March 10, 1906, one of the most tragic accidents in the history of the mining industry occurred at the Courrières coal mine in France. An explosion of firedamp (mine gas) led to the detonation of coal dust. Mine supports were destroyed, and a fire broke out, claiming the lives of 1,099 miners.

Research results in the field of improving the efficiency of needle coke production have been published in the authoritative scientific journal International Journal Of Engineering. It is published by the Materials and Energy Research Center (Iran).

The research of Seyyed Shahab Tabatabaee Moradi, an associate professor at Sahand University of Technology (Tabriz, Iran), has been published in the Journal of Mining Institute.

A delegation from the Islamic World Science and Technology Citation and Monitoring Institute (ISC), headed by its President, Professor Mohammad Mehdi Alavianmehr, paid a working visit to Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University. The delegation brought a package of proposals to expand cooperation that began with the signing of a memorandum of understanding in July of last year.

A delegation of rectors from Cuba’s universities of Moa, Las Tunas, Oriente, and Holguín (named after Oscar Lucero Moya) paid a working visit to Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University. These four universities have well-developed engineering programs, and their rectors traveled 9,000 kilometers to begin the process of modernizing engineering education in the Island of Freedom based on the model of Russia’s oldest technical university.

A meeting was held within the walls of Russia’s oldest technical university to discuss the interim results and future prospects of the pilot project aimed at improving the higher education system, carried out in accordance with Presidential Decree of the Russian Federation No. 343 of May 12, 2023.

Global sales of cryogenic fuel, primarily liquefied natural gas (LNG), reached 5.2 billion US dollars in 2024. According to estimates by the consulting company Market-Research-Intellect, annual turnover will approach 10 billion by 2033. Most importantly, experts predict a “paradigm shift” in the market: technological advances and changing consumer preferences will give a powerful impetus to this type of motor fuel.

The “Summer Schools” project for partner universities — primarily international — has been implemented by Russia’s oldest technical university since 2018. This summer, it brought together a record number of participants. More than 2,000 students and postgraduate researchers are taking part in the educational program in the city on the Neva, including participants from Donbas, Belarus, China, India, Iran, and several countries across Africa and Latin America.
