In 2 years, the oldest higher technical educational institution in Russia will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the first graduation of Russian engineers.

The first participants were students and postgraduates from Iran. Together with them, a representative delegation of teachers from Shiraz University, as well as Organizations of Mining Engineers from Fars province, arrived at the oldest technical university in Russia.

One of the problems hindering the reduction of the shortage of personnel in the real sector of the economy, he called the excessive ”digitalization” of the consciousness of young people.

The Empress Catherine II St. Petersburg Mining University has started summer internships. The 2024 season is unique in its own way. For the first time, oil and gas students have the opportunity to gain full-fledged production skills in the field of exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons in the Leningrad Region.

The university has a total of 10 buildings where students and PhD students live. All of them are located on Vasilievsky Island, i.e. in walking distance from the academic buildings. On Tuesday, June 11, it became known that dormitories № 4 and 5 of Empress Catherine II St. Petersburg Mining University, on Nalichnaya Street, 28 and Morskaya Embankment, 15, will open their doors in August. Now finishing works are being completed there, on the total area of more than 20 thousand square meters.

On Wednesday, 5 June, a delegation from the Republic of Sudan led by Minister of Mineral Resources Mohammed Albashir Abunommo paid a working visit to Empress Catherine II St. Petersburg Mining University. During the meeting with Rector Vladimir Litvinenko, he discussed the prospects of scientific and educational co-operation. On Friday, May 24, the St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II hosted the International Forum “Africa Day. Education for the Future”. It was held on the eve of Liberation Day, which was established 61 years ago in Addis Ababa. This holiday symbolizes the aspiration of all states located on the Sunny continent to unity, peace and prosperity.

The Gorny MFK hosted the opening ceremony of the 3rd scientific and practical conference “Breakthrough Technologies in Exploration, Development and Production of Hydrocarbons”. Its participants were representatives of domestic and foreign specialized enterprises, scientific organizations and higher educational institutions. They gathered on one platform in order to present innovations that have prospects for implementation in production, or, on the contrary, to familiarize themselves with ideas that can improve the efficiency of subsoil use.

The final two-day seminar of the Student Mentoring Institute club took place at the Kavgolovo training base of the Empress Catherine II St. Petersburg Mining University. Its participants will take patronage over first-year students next fall, their task will be to accelerate the adaptation of “new recruits” by involving them in social, scientific and sports life of the university.

The level of Russia’s trade turnover with African countries last year increased by 30% and amounted to about 25 billion dollars. According to expert forecasts, this figure may well double in 5 years, which will make the Sunny continent one of the largest trade and economic partners of our country.
