Young Russian and German scientists exchange ideas on development of oil extracting technologies

Members of student SPE communities from RWTH Aachen University and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany) arrived at Saint-Petersburg Mining University to share experience with their russian colleagues. The young scientists checked out the campus and discussed ideas about technological developments of deposit exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons.

SPE is a non-profit organization for professionals in energy resources extraction and development industry. It unites over 124 thousand members from 135 nations. SPE’s aim is accumulating professional knowledge and sharing it with others.

The organization’s representatives work actively with students widely popularizing the SPE. For instance, they assist the students with internships and read guest lectures. Membership in SPE for young specialist is completely free.

A delegation of 18 members arrived at the Mining University. The guests visited the Museum of Mining and later met with members of local SPE division. The students talked about main areas of work as well as scientific research and exchanged contacts.

“I am really impressed by the University and the museum. I have never seen such a unique collection before. I think that studying mineralogy having all these exhibits is quite rare. Your students are lucky”, Joschka Roeth, an Aachen University PhD student, noted.

RWTH Aachen University is a long-known partner of Saint-Petersburg Mining University and a regular participant of all international conferences held in the University; while the Karlsruhe Institute representatives visited the oldest technical university in Russia for the first time.
