The agreement established the main conditions, under which the Mining University experts will begin working at mining facilities in South Africa. Their main responsibility will be to evaluate deposits, assess rentability of currently used technologies and give recommendations on implementation of innovative solutions for more extensive processing.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of “SOGAZ” Sergey Okhotnikov together with the Vice-Rector of the Mining University Anatoliy Suslov and the CEO of Hadassah Group Greg Ramen participated at the business meeting that preceded the signing of the memorandum as well. They discussed economic and social aspects considering natural resources development in South Africa including preventive health care for mining industry workers and monitoring the environment.
“Saint-Petersburg Mining University is the oldest technical school in Russia. It collaborates with leading universities, oil, gas, and mining companies, and governments all over the world. I am certain that signing the memorandum will become the foundation for fruitful and mutually beneficial partnership between our countries”, stated Dr. Nandi Msimang.
It should be noted that South Africa is rich with various ore deposits such as platinum, iron, copper and other; and currently leads the world in their extraction.
