Mining University, became the winners of the "EnerGenius" case-marathon that took place in Khanty-Mansiysk.
The organizers offered the participants of the business game three tasks to choose from. They had to design an offshore oil and gas field, develop an effective scheme of separate waste collection or propose a cost-effective system of hydrocarbon deposits development on land, taking into account the need to increase oil recovery.
The team of Maksim Solokhin and Ksenia Cheremisina won the last case (five school and five student teams fought for the victory). The expert jury justified its decision by saying that the extraction strategy proposed by the laureates “turned out to be the most profitable and technologically feasible.”
“The guys competently substantiated the entire system of field development, calculated the economics and technological component. This allowed them to take first place absolutely deservedly,” Aleksandra Palyanitsina, mentor of the Mining University team, commented on the success of the university's representatives.
The annual educational program "EnerGenius" includes two parallel events. In addition to the case study marathon, this is also a winter school. Within its framework, high school and university students who plan to build their careers in the oil and gas industry get an opportunity to become acquainted with the organization of production processes in practice.
For example, the Mining University delegation visited Russia’s largest core storage facility, which contains samples from all West Siberian fields; the Production Management Center, which analyzes data from wells, thus eliminating risks of potential technological complications; and the Oil and Gas Museum. In addition, students participated in an extensive educational program that included lectures and master classes.
