More than five hundred employees of St. Petersburg Mining University received an injection of the first component of the vaccine against COVID-19, some of them have already received the second injection. The management plans to reach the statutory targets, i.e., to vaccinate at least 60% of the staff, within the next month and a half or two months.

On Tuesday, July 13th, the preliminary results of the vaccination campaign were summarized at St. Petersburg Mining University. As Forpost found out, it involves field medical teams right on the territory of the higher educational institution. Everyone who wants to take part in it signs up for a certain time to avoid queues and loss of time.

Vladimir Shelegov, Chief Operating Engineer, said he had wanted to get vaccinated for a long time but “never got around to it”. The news that you don’t have to go anywhere to get vaccinated was the determining factor

“Of course, it’s very convenient to get vaccinated a hundred meters away from your workplace. That’s one of the main reasons I came to the health center today. Overall, I have no doubts about the need to create collective immunity. Especially since the situation has gotten worse and additional restrictions have been reintroduced in St. Petersburg,” stressed Vladimir Shelegov.

Dean of the Faculty of Doctoral Studies and Postgraduate Studies Vladimir Vasiliev admitted that he did not understand the question regarding his motivation at all.

"First, it is necessary to be healthy, secondly, in order not to infect those around me. And, thirdly, to be confident in the future. I think this lies on the surface," said the dean.

There are two vaccination outlets at the university - in the first and the third academic buildings. Injections are given to students by representatives of Polyclinic #76, and to university staff by representatives of Polyclinics #4 and #53.
