The competition was the central event of the International Oil and Gas Youth Forum, which was held in Almetyevsk.
Several representatives of Russia’s oldest technical school were recognized at the HOT Challenge 2021 hackathon. Its participants, divided into 34 teams, were tasked with developing a cooperation project between an energy company and a partner representing another industry. The goal is to involve additional volumes of industrial waste in recycling and contribute to the development of a circular economy model.
The Clean Technology team, whose members included Vladislav Moskvitin, a student of St. Petersburg Mining University, coped with the task better than others. He and his partners became the winners of the competition and were awarded a certificate for 420,000 rubles. Third place went to the Pro-sludge team, whose participants also included a Mining University student Timur Sabirov.
“Our team proposed recycling the oil company’s drilling cuttings, mixing them with organic waste, composting them, and supplying the processed products to agricultural enterprises, where they can be used. For example, as fertile soil for reclamation and landscaping. The expert jury noted the innovativeness of our solution, its technical and economic thought-outness, as well as the high prospects for the project implementation in practice,” said Timur Sabirov.
Other representatives of the university were also awarded based on the hackathon results. In particular, Vladislav Moskvitin and Jovana Milich returned to St. Petersburg with certificates of reference from the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. And Karina Yalalova, Kirill Ignatyev, and Evgeny Ivanov returned with certificates for a cash prize of 20 thousand rubles.
