This year it is taking place in five Russian cities.
On Tuesday, 28 September, the final stage of SIBUR’s second PetroChemSkills-2021 branch championship for petrochemical workers under the WorldSkills standard kicked off in St. Petersburg. This year the competition has already been held in four Russian cities: Nizhnekamsk, Tyumen, Tobolsk, and Tomsk. The main site of St. Petersburg, the final stage, was the Multifunctional complex of Mining University.
The championship is aimed at increasing the quality of personnel training as well as enhancing the prestige of working and engineering professions. This year it gathered more than 300 participants and experts. According to the organizers, it is four times more than in Sochi in 2019.
One of the key features of the current professional competition is the admission of students from St. Petersburg Mining University and students from the Lemaev College of Petrochemical Processing and Refining. They were given the opportunity to compete against current employees of industry companies, such as SIBUR Holding, Kazanorgsintez, Togliattikauchuk, Nizhnekamskneftekhim, Taneko, EuroChem, Gazprom Neft Shelf and many others.
The first industry championship was held in Sochi on the basis of the Sirius Center, by the number of participants and competencies it can be considered a trial. This year, not only the spheres but also those who want to test their professional level became more numerous. We have been working with Mining University for several years, and this kind of event is of course interesting for the university’s students, too. I am sure that their participation in our championship is a good sign and a useful story for further development of PetroChemSkills,” said Rustam Galiakhmetov, Managing Director for Production Efficiency at SIBUR.
This year the participants are competing in 12 competencies. The results of nine areas have already been summarized. In St. Petersburg, they will choose the best in “Estimating”, “Environmental Protection” and “Industrial Safety”.
The championship is an opportunity to determine in a fair fight who is better. You are competing in the disciplines you’ve been studying all your life. It is important to know at what level you are now to develop further and be even more in demand in the labor market,” said Vladimir Borzenkov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at the Mining University.
As a reminder, the 2nd PetroChemSkills-2021 Open Industry Championship will be held over four days. Its program includes a business breakfast on “Practices and perspectives of flexible CTC development for personnel training in industry companies”, a lecture on “Changing competence profile of EE specialist: what to prepare for in the future”, an industry seminar of the UNESCO Center on personnel training for unmanned production and topical issues of digital product management.
