On Monday, November 15, the results of the seventh Intellectual Freshers' Day of St. Petersburg higher educational institutions became known. It was won by the team of the Mountain University. The diploma for first place was presented to the guys by the chairman of the organizing committee of the competition, a well-known polymath Alexander Druz.
For several days the teams competed in various intellectual and humorous games, such as "What? Where? When?", parliamentary debates and KVN. In addition, students participated in orienteering competitions and a photo contest during the qualifying phase.
"We always stick to the rule of being the best not for yourself, but to be the best for the team. We managed to outrun our rivals and show the highest result in all areas due to well-coordinated teamwork", said Anastasia Inozemtseva, curator of the Mountain University team.
She also said that one of the most unusual questions in the "What? Where? When?" game was the question about the shape of Italian dumplings, which according to legend were made by a cook when he peeped at Venus. The miners gave the correct answer: they were dumplings in the shape of the navel.
According to the laureates, such events allow students not only to develop their mental and creative abilities but also teach them to work in a team, quickly make effective decisions, competently and reasonably defend their point of view.
It should be noted that the interuniversity intellectual championship has been held in St. Petersburg since 2015. The University of Mines is traditionally one of the top five teams according to its results.
