The first event it hosted was a meeting of Rector Vladimir Litvinenko with student group leaders.

On Thursday, December 9, the 450-seat assembly hall of St. Petersburg Mining University opened after a major renovation. During the work, builders refined its appearance, equipped it with the latest telecommunications paraphernalia, and completely renewed all engineering communications there: heating, ventilation, and electricity.

Among the technological innovations include an automatic sliding curtain, a booth for simultaneous interpretation in two foreign languages, a huge LED screen measuring 8.3 x 4.8 meters, and a modern sound system. The total area of the building: 835 square meters.
