A concert for the Russian soldiers was given by the Montem choir and a ballroom dancing section. In addition to soldiers and medics, the concert was attended by students of the Military Training Center of Russia's first higher technical educational institution.
As explained in the Council of students of the university, this action is an integral part of a large program aimed at moral and patriotic education of students. As part of their volunteer activities, for example, in the fall they clean up garbage and leaves on the territory of the Museum-Reserve "The Breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad", and in winter they clean it from snow. In addition, the guys take an active part in organizing exhibitions telling about the activities of Mining University during the Great Patriotic War, the work of search teams in the area of the Nevsky Patch, donate blood, which is then used in hospitals.
"When we were offered to perform in front of the soldiers wounded and congratulate them on the coming New Year, we didn't think for a second. Many of them have no relatives in St. Petersburg, so I'm sure our attention was received positively by them. For our part, we wanted very much to please them with a dance, to create a New Year's mood. We understand perfectly well how important a task they perform and we appreciate their work immensely," Ekaterina Golovina, head of the ballroom dancing section of Mining University and deputy head of the Department of Industrial Economics, told us about her motivation.
The students themselves agree with her. They believe that, to the best of their ability, they should support such initiatives by involving their friends and acquaintances.
"I believe that everyone who can, in whatever way they can, should help our soldiers. Recently, many of my fellow students took part in a centralized action and donated blood together. Today we go to the wounded. It is natural for me, perhaps because I studied at the Military Training Center", - said the captain of the university team in ballroom dancing Viktor Slobodin.
Recall that recently, on December 9, students of Mining University took part in cleaning the territory of the memorial complex "Breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad" in Kirovsk. Due to heavy snowfalls, they had plenty of work to do.
