There’s not much time left if you want to enroll into the Summer School at the Mining University, and this is the last one in the series of our articles about Summer School Programmes. Our final choice is “Geodetic Engineering: Theory and Practice”.
This programme was created by academic staff of the Departments of Geodetic Engineering and Mine Surveying. Our students are offered to visit lectures, workshops and master classes dedicated to various topics, such as Geodetic Monitoring, Ground Laser Scanning, GNSS Navigation, Topographical Survey, GIS, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and others.
During the practice, as our student, you will learn to control the drone by yourself, do laser scanning, make measurements using total stations and work in special industrial software. In addition to the main programme, there is also a possibility to visit leading geodetic companies of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region: “Promgeo” Ltd., “Geopribori” Ltd. etc.
Culture programme is also an essential part of the summer school activities. There are many sightseeing attractions that our students get to visit: the State Hermitage Museum, the Church of the Spilled Blood, the Summer Garden, St. Isaac's and Kazan cathedrals and, of course, Peterhof.
Last summer, students from Beirut, Lebanon came to Mining University to participate in this Summer School Programme. Our guests from Lebanese International University claim that they gained knowledge, which is beneficial to their future specialization.
As Maher Nasser, one of the students, told, "First of all, I wanted to learn new information about scientific equipment, which simply does not exist in Lebanon. In addition, I wanted to understand how my skills and knowledge meet the standards of Russian higher education. I would say that, in the end, Summer School exceeded my expectations".
Another student, Mohamad Saadon Nasrullah, said that "The school was organized in the most professional way as possible, and the host party treated us respectfully. The cultural programme and the lectures were also very interesting".
If you are still unsure or want to learn more about the programme, all the information, i.e. requirements, duration, fees etc., is available here.
This is what our Lebanese guests told us about studying in Russia, "We have heard that Russian people are very friendly and we fully realized it upon our arrival at the country. People here are ready to help and answer all your questions. I was totally blown away, when I came here. I would have liked to stay here for the rest of my life – study and work here"
