Mining University created all the conditions to increase the number of vaccinated students, but no compulsory vaccination is stipulated.
Mobile medical teams give coronavirus injections right on the territory of St. Petersburg Mining University, in the academic building No. 3. Another point works in Polyclinic No. 76. An offer to sign up for injection is sent to each student through a personal account, where everyone can choose a specific date to visit the doctors to avoid queues.
“We do not require young people to take part in the vaccination campaign. Nevertheless, the conditions for this are created. We have enough responsible kids, most of them are well aware of how important it is to create a collective immunity today. None of them are obliged to be vaccinated, but many of them have already done it,” said Dmitry Petrakov, Vice-Rector for Educational Activities of Mining University.
He specified that we are talking, first of all, about senior students who received an injection in June, before leaving for their practical training. Therefore, the main task now is to convince the younger students, who study in academic building No.3, of its relevance. As practice shows, proximity to the vaccination site is often one of the main motivators for any age group.
Let us remind that a day earlier, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education recommended that universities transfer students who had not been vaccinated against COVID-19 to distance learning. Many experts perceived this initiative extremely negatively. Moreover, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science Valery Falkov also stated that he did not endorse the proposal of his colleagues.
