An innovative turbo-generator, designed at Ufa State Aviation Technical University, will be shown off at MAKS-2021.

Orica, the world’s largest manufacturer of explosives, presented the world’s first Avatel™ mix-charging machine for unmanned horizontal tunneling in St. Petersburg. It allows to carry out drilling and blasting operations that precede the process of mining, without human intervention. Will it be the next step toward fully robotic mining and turn today’s miners into operators who control unmanned machinery from an office hundreds or even thousands of kilometers away from the mine?

On Wednesday, 17 March, Mining Museum, St. Petersburg, informed it had concluded experiments on removing toxic impurities from wastewater. The experiments were carried out using mineral samples from the museum’s vaults, reports the press office of the city’s largest natural-scientific exposition.  The peculiarity of the solution lies in the filtering material capable of trapping even the most toxic components. Iron-manganese nodules were used as a barrier for wastewater treatment.

Kuzbass State Technical University informed it had developed and successfully tested an innovative method of producing carbon fibres using environmentally friendly deep coal processing. Through the thermal dissolution of coal, the new high-quality raw material used for making composites emerges.
