Among the tasks of the newly established center is developing a unified system of international professional certification of engineers, as well as implementation into production of innovative technologies for the purposes of increasing the efficiency and occupational safety at the enterprises of the mineral resources sector.

XV International Forum-Contest of Young Researchers ”Topical Issues of Rational Use of Natural Resources” will be held at the venue of Saint-Petersburg Mining University on 13-17 May 2019.

As a part of the Russian-British Raw Materials Dialogue, a business session was held in Saint-Petersburg Mining University. Executives and specialists from both countries attended the meeting to participate in a discussion mainly relating to future outlook for trade and investment cooperation between our countries.

British miners gave their colleagues from Saint-Petersburg an authority to certify specialists of mineral companies with such titles as ”Professional Engineer” or ”Fellow Engineer”. As for today, these titles have been officially recognized in 124 countries.

The agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the UN on the establishment of the International Center of Competence in Mining Education was ratified by the State Duma on October 18.
